The Story of Braoola — Where Beauty Becomes Becoming
I once watched a butterfly struggle to come out of its cocoon, and I almost cried. It didn’t look beautiful in that moment. It looked fragile. It looked like it was fighting for its life. But it kept pushing. Slowly, gently, it broke free — and when its wings finally opened, they were breathtaking. That moment stayed with me. I realised that beauty is not just the final result we admire. It is the process. It is the breaking, the stretching, the becoming. It is finding the strength to emerge, even when it feels uncomfortable. That butterfly became my perspective on life and on beauty. I saw myself in it. I understood that growth sometimes requires courage, and transformation requires faith.
From that understanding, Braoola was born — inspired by “Braura,” the word for butterfly in my language, Tonga from Malawi. When a woman sits in my chair, I don’t just see makeup. I see her story. I see the silent battles, the resilience, the dreams she carries. My hands simply enhance what is already there — the confidence that was waiting to unfold, the glow that was always hers.
Braoola is more than a studio to me. It is a reminder that every woman is in a season of becoming. Sometimes we feel hidden, unseen, wrapped in our own cocoon. But with care, patience, and belief, we rise. And when we finally spread our wings, the world doesn’t just see beauty — it witnesses transformation.
